2005 Annual Meeting
The Virgin Islands Bar Association will hold it's annual meeting on Friday, December 9, 2005. This year's annual meeting will be at Divi Carina Bay Resort and Casino on St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands.

Bar Adopts New Strategic Plan
During the Presidency of Amos W. Carty, in 2004, the V.I. Bar Association developed a strategic plan, which was adopted by the Board of Governors. Amos Carty had this to say about the newly adopted strategic plan: "The newly adopted strategic plan will provide a guide for the activities of the Bar Association into the future. It is a plan that has been developed with input from our membership as well as other community members. I am excited that our newly adopted strategic plan is realistic and has attainable goals and benchmarks. It will allow us to finally devlop an association that is responsive to the needs of its members and the wider community that we serve."

2005 Almeric L. Christian Tennis Tournament 
The funds raised from the tournament provide financial assistance to deserving law students from the U. S. Virgin Islands. All the students who receive grants under the Almeric Christian Scholarship Fund are law students who sign a commitment to return to the Territory to practice law.

Support for Magistrates Court Narrowly Defeats Supreme Court as Priority
The Bar Herald's first on-line poll gave a narrow lead to the establishment of a Magistrates Court within the Territorial Court as a priority over a Virgin Islands Supreme Court. 44% of those that responded to the Bar Herald poll ranked the establishment of a Magistrates Court within the Territorial Court while 41% of those polled maintained that the Virgin Islands Supreme Court was a priority. 15% of those polled said that didn't know which option was a priority.
