Sisterhood exploring our Jewish heritage
by Phebe Schwartz

The Women of Reform Judaism, also known as Sisterhood, is striving to be a vital program at the synagogue, providing both congregational support and social activities, as well as meeting the unique needs of Jewish women.
We will continue our traditional activities such as coordinating the Rosh Hashana picnic, Break the Fast meal, Progressive Dinner and Oneg Shabbats. (We're so good at food!) And we'll continue to support synagogue events.
But this year, I'd like to have fewer "business" meetings and more educational programs where we can learn about our Jewish heritage, particularly as women. Some of the questions we've begun to explore include who are the women in the Torah, and what is the role of modern women in Judaism today.
If you'd like to coordinate a program or activity - a discussion group, an art project, a cooking even, a Rosh Chodesh service, a women's Havdalah, whatever - please let me know. I'd like to get each and every member of Sisterhood involved, so that we can share the great store of knowledge and talent that we as a community possess.
Again, thank you for your interest in Sisterhood, and here's to a fruitful and educational year!

Note: Phebe Schwartz is Sisterhood president.

Floating Minyan: beautiful people, beautiful placeSkipper extraordinaire Donald Pomeranz
The music stole over the sea toward the end of another wonderful day of fellowship. But best that stories start at the beginning. And the beginning was an idea to celebrate friendship, nature and God in yet another beautiful venue that only the Virgin Islands can provide.
