Sisterhood seeks sponsors for Onegs, flowers, Mazon

Sisterhood President Diane Ringel is making an appeal to all congregants to sponsor a special Shabbat gift in 2008 in honor of life-cycle events or in memory of a loved one.
Here are excerpts from her letter to congregants and Chai members:
     Dear fellow congregants:
On behalf of the Sisterhood, I am writing to request your sponsorship of Oneg Shabbats, Shabbat flowers and Mazon donations for the coming year.
Most Onegs, which follow our Friday night services, are sponsored to commemorate life's special occasions – birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, births, special visitors, holy days and more – or to memorialize a loved one. You may also choose to sponsor flowers, or contribute to Mazon – the Jewish response to hunger – in honor or in memory of someone, or to celebrate a special event. As a point of interest, our Mazon contributions are split between the national Mazon organization and our local food banks, such as Catholic Charities and the Salvation Army food programs.
I encourage you to schedule dates and pay now for Onegs, flowers and Mazon sponsorships for 2008. By planning ahead, you can be assured of obtaining the dates you desire for your special occasion or memorial.
The letter contains a form to designate the specifics of all sponsorships, which cost $50 for Onegs, $50 for flowers and $36 for Mazon. If you wish to sponsor a more elaborate Oneg for a special occasion, you may order additional food and wine and assist with set-up and clean-up. Please arrange with Diane.
For further information, please call the Synagogue at 774-4312.
