Seven students honored at MLK service
A packed Synagogue celebrated the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at Friday's Shabbat service by honoring seven students whose lives exemplify the values Dr. King espoused.
The students from the island's high schools were nominated by teachers, principals and guidance counselors -- many of whom, along with parents and other families -- attended the service to honor their outstanding students.
The honorees received a $500 U.S. Savings Bond, along with books and certificates recognizing their achievements.
Here is a full account of the service reported by the Virgin Islands Daily News. |
