2007 High Holy Days events and projects

     Here's the rundown of services and activities planned from now through Oct. 4. Please join our synagogue family for these special events.
     
     Every FRIDAY at 6:30 p.m., Erev Shabbat service
     
     Every SATURDAY at 10 a.m., Shabbat service followed by Torah study at Lilienfeld House
     
     Visiting the graves at Altona Cemetery
     
     10 a.m. EVERY DAY starting Sunday, September 16, through Thursday, September 30
     
     HUNGER PROJECT
     
     Collection of non-perishable food donations for local soup kitchens; between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur
     
     SATURDAY, September 8
     8:30 a.m., Religious School – Arts & Crafts and High Holy Days Music Class at Lilienfeld House with our Cantorial Soloist and Educator. Diane Becker Krasnick
     
     6:30 p.m., light supper at Lilienfeld House, followed by S'lichot service and changing of the Torah mantles
     
     WEDNESDAY, September 12
     
     6:30 p.m., Erev Rosh Hashanah service, followed by Rosh Hashanah dinner at Lilienfeld House
     
     Reservation and prepayment for dinner must be made no later than Friday, September 7.
     
     Cost of dinner: Members, $30; Non-members, $35; children age 5-13, half price of adults
     
     THURSDAY, September 13
     
     10 a.m., Rosh Hashanah morning service
     
     4 p.m., Tashlich service and potluck picnic at Magens Bay, Shed #4
     
     Please make reservations by Monday, September 10. and tell us what you are bringing.
     
     FRIDAY, September 21
     
     6:30 p.m., Erev Yom Kippur – Kol Nidre service
     
     SATURDAY, September 22
     
     10 a.m., Yom Kippur morning service
     
     2:30 p.m., Yom Kippur afternoon service
     
     4:30 p.m., Yom Kippur Yizkor service
     
     5:30 p.m., Neila service, followed by potluck Break the Fast at Lilienfeld House
     
     Please make reservations by Wednesday, September 19, and tell us what you are bringing.
     
     SUNDAY, September 23
     
     1:30 p.m., Religious School, Youth Group, congregation, family and friends join to decorate the Succah
     
     WEDNESDAY, September 26
     
     6 p.m., Erev Succot service
     
     THURSDAY, October 4
     
     10 a.m., Yizkor service
     
     6 p.m., Simchat Torah service

Annual meeting is April 28
   Please mark your calendars and plan to be at Lillienfeld House at 5:30 p.m. April 28 for the Congregation's annual meeting. It's important! And we're serving dinner afterwards.

   Wind up your weekend on a musical note! It's time for the third annual JAZZ JAM, an evening of great music hosted by the St. Thomas Synagogue at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, April 10, at Coral World.

The Gonsa Geshicte (the whole story) about the fire near the Synagogue
   On Saturday, Jan. 8, 2011, just after noon there was a large fire in an abandoned house up the hill and behind the Synagogue. It threatened, but did not damage, the Synagogue -- but caused some scary moments.
