Second Jazz Jam is a mellow delight

We had great music under the stars at Coral World on Saturday night, May 8, with a wonderful crowd, yummy nibbles and a lovely vibe.

It was the Synagogue's second annual Jazz Jam. Our aim was not to make money -- we pretty much broke even, which was our goal -- but to provide the community with a lovely evening of terrific jazz.

Performers included some of the Islands' top jazz artists, led by keyboardist Harvey Werbel and featuring Dale Harrigan on trumpet, Joe Ramsay on sax, Rhett Simmonds on bass, percussionist Andrew Cameron, Eddie Bruce on electric guitar and vocalist Marty Beech. Joining these stalwarts were singers Pam Sullivan and Drew Barrows, among others. All were enthusiastically received by an appreciative audience.

Harvey Werbel pulled the music end together, and Carol Moore spearheaded the planning and organization of a great event. Synagogue members pitched in with hors d'oeuvres and elbow grease!
