A joyous Simchat Torah

Rabbi Arthur Starr very carefully unrolled our new Sephardic Torah as about 40 congregants celebrated Simchat Torah by holding the Torah close to themselves -- literally.
Rabbi Starr read the final portions of Deuteronomy and the opening portions of Genesis -- the traditional highlight of any Simchat Torah service celebrating the continuing study of Torah day after day, week after week, year after year.
The rabbi also pointed out special portions of the unscrolled Torah, including the Ten Commandments.
The unscrolling and rescrolling of the Torah was performed with a sense of awe by Rabbi Starr and all those fortunate enough to hold up the parchment scroll -- a very special moment for many of us.
