2011 Auction was our best yet!

The 2011 Antiques, Art & Collectibles Auction on Feb. 13 was wonderful -- great energy, great vibe, great bargains and (we hope) a great bottom line.
Though all the figures and bills aren't in yet, it appears that we did just fine financially.
And the new format seemed to work well -- a shorter live auction with 10-minute breaks before each silent auction table closed, and a continuation of the live auction for art and furniture that didn't meet their reserves in the silent auction.
Two stars of the auction were Donald Pomeranz and Jim Tunick, the mavens behind our successful first effort to line up sponsors for the auction. They were the official greeters -- Donald in sparkles and Jim in feathers. They poured wine and champagne for our sponsors, took their lunch orders and personally delivered the lunches to their seats.
Our fun packages proved to be big winners, sparking spirited bidding. The cocktail party at Philip Sturm's Petit-Sturm House, with tapas prepared by Rabbi Moch, went for $2,500. The French wine-tasting by Frank Machover of V.I. Wine Wholesalers at the Solberg home of George Dudley and Susan Lugo sold for $2,300.
Many thanks again to all of our wonderful sponsors and donors, and to our scores of volunteers who worked throughout the auction weekend. We couldn't do it without them!
