FirstBank has given the Virgin Islands Women's Business Center (WBC)$15,000 for use in continuing and improving its operations. Mrs. Theresa Pond-Moses, Assistant Vice President/Manager, St. Croix Branch, presented the symbolic check.
     
     The first major corporate contributor to the WBC's general operations, "FirstBank's support," according to Yvette deLaubanque, director of the WBC, "signifies its belief in the WBC program and the importance of providing women in this community the business skills they need to succeed in the competitive marketplace. Moreover, FirstBank has demonstrated its commitment to this community and its corporate responsibility to improve the community within which it operates."
     
     The WBC is a partnership between the U.S. Small Business Admonostration and the St. Croix Foundation.
     
     The WBC is hopeful that more corporate contributors will underwrite its program aimed at helping women achieve financial independence.
