Bill & Helen Gilbert Named Honorary Trustees Bill and Helen Gilbert have remained strong supporters of the St. Croix Foundation over the years, both monetarily and through in-kind support. For this reason, the Board of Directors named the Gilberts honorary trustees. As examples of their commitment, Bill drafted the Foundation's operating procedures, and they have strongly supported the revitalization of Sunday Market Square.
The appalling condition of the area prompted the Gilberts to help transform the area. Bill spent many hours measuring the cost of reconstruction of 35 King Street, greatly contributing to it now being listed with the National Register. The Gilberts also established a field of interest fund at the Foundation, immediately seeing their money at work. Exterior work, including replacing old shingles and repainting, was completed on the second story of 35 King Street, instantly making a tremendous impact on the aesthetics in the square.
"St. Croix has been very important to us for over 30 years. We want to help the community realize its great potential." |
