THE CRUMLEY HOUSE BRAIN INJURY FOUNDATION by Wayne Hunigan
Our new facility allows us to expand our training services as well as provide long-term residential care for brain injured survivors. The Crumley House Brain Injury Foundation was formed to raise the funds necessary to continue the unique assistance and services that The Crumley House provides. There are a number of ways you can help.
Gifts of Stock or Real Estate
A gift of appreciated property generally offers a two-fold tax savings. First you may receive an income tax deduction for the full market value of the property at the date of the gift. Second you may avoid paying the capital gains tax you would have incurred on the appreciation in value had you sold the property.
Gifts of Life Insurance
You can often receive a significant charitiable deduction by donating a life insurance policy that you no longer need. Simply designate The Crumley House Brain Injury Foundation as both the owner and beneficiary of the policy.
Gifts of Cash
The Crumley House is incorporated under the provisions of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. As such, gifts of cash are fully deductible up to 50% of your adjusted gross income.
Charitable Lead Trusts
The charitable lead trust allows you to pass assets to your children and/or grandchildren while minimizing estate taxes. Under this arrangement, you transfer assets to a trust that makes payments to The Crumley House Brain Injury Foundation for a specified number of years. The trust than transfers the assets to you heirs.
Charitable Remainder Trusts
The charitable remainder trust allows you to provide for yourself and/or a loved one yet still receive a charitable deduction as well as save capital gains and estate taxes. You fund a charitable remainder trust with cash or appreciated property and received income from the assets for your lifetime. After your lifetime, and perhaps that of a loved one, the trust distibutes the remaining assets to The Crumley House.
Bequests
You can include The Crumley House in your will in several ways. You can designate an outright dollar amount or a specified percentage of your estate. You can name The Crumley House as a remainder beneficiary to receive funds only after specific sums are paid to individual beneficiaries. You can easily add The Crumley House to your will through an amendment called a codicil.
