NEVIS NATIVE ADDS SPICE TO BERKELEY, CALIFORNIA WITH SERENDIPITOUS MOVE

Official Release.

from www.thecaribbeancove.com
from www.thecaribbeancove.com
Berkeley, Calif., January 24, 2005: Judith O'Loughlin, chef and part owner of The Caribbean Cove recently announced that renovations have begun at her new restaurant location in Berkeley, California. The Nevis-born chef was the owner and operator of a long-time Caribbean cuisine destination in Oakland's Diamond District, until she was evicted when the building she leased space in was closed for seismic upgrades.

Since the eviction, party-givers in the Bay area have still been able to enjoy Judith's authentic Caribbean cuisine, as The Caribbean Cove has continued to offer event catering from a shared commercial kitchen in the interim. Judith's special blend of spices has warmed up events such as birthday parties throughout the fall and winter, and attendees at last summer's Reggae on the River Festival, in Humboldt County, enjoyed her Es-cove-ich Fish, Jerk Chicken, and Rice & Peas.

Judith says "I'm going to be so happy in my new restaurant in Berkeley. I just love people coming in to sit down to relax and enjoy reggae music and island food." For now, Judith is keeping mum on the details of the new restaurant. "Many people from the islands are superstitious," Judith says, "and have warned me not to jinx it. One person told me to make sure that I open on a full moon. I'm going to wait until we're just about ready to open before announcing the location." Judith will allow, however, that the new facility will provide full-service dining, as well as take-out and delivery.

As renovations proceed apace, Judith continues to accept reservations for catered events, particularly for the summer wedding season. Judith warns, "The summer calendar fills up quick, so people should call or make a request through the web site soon." Judith also allows reservations far in advance to make dinners for reggae musicians as they come through the Bay area on tour to various music festivals.

Reggae on the River is an internationally acclaimed annual event, consisting of three days of "the best Reggae and World music experience to be found". Thousands make the pilgrimage to Humboldt County each year to reconnect with friends and groove to superb musical offerings in a natural setting.      The Caribbean Cove is a woman-of-color owned independent food service business serving the San Francisco Bay area. The Caribbean Cove serves up authentic Caribbean cuisine for a wide range of special occasions including corporate events, wedding receptions, theme parties, backstage cooking for music events and more.
