B.V.I. SPRING REGATTA RACES

Innovations in course design doubled the excitement for participants and observers at the 2001 British Virgin Islands Spring Regatta April 5-8, 2001. The Start and Finish lines were in different places; there were also adjustments in starting sequence, race number changes according to class, and less idle time, thanks to Regatta chair/ISAF (International Sailing Federation) member Bob Phillips.
The changes have been reviewed by several experts, including David "Fang" Kilponen, ISAF international judge. A bit more diligence was required on the parts of judges and racers, but the thrill factor was raised considerably. As a consequence, there was less waiting for individual fleets to complete the course. For a view of the courses, click here.
