Govrnment Seeks Public Input On National Sewerage Programme by Joe Daley
GIS
The Government of the British Virgin Islands is moving to incorporate public input in a territory-wide Master Plan for the National Sewerage Programme.
Government has contracted with the engineering consulting firm 'Berger-CBE (BVI) Limited' for the preparation of the master plan.
After conferring with governmental agencies and the Steering Committee, local officials have announced plans to embark on a series of Public Information Meetings aimed at presenting the agreed options developed by the consultants.
A total of six meetings would be held targeting residents on Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke, and Anegada.
Valued information from the meetings will be included in the preferred alternative and presented in the final Master Plan Document.
At the upcoming meetings there will also be presentation of alternatives developed, by the consultants, aimed at addressing the wastewater needs in the various local communities.
The initial meeting has been announced for the Legislative Council in Road Town at 7:00pm on Tuesday April 16th.
East End/Long Look will be the next stop on Tuesday April 23rd at 7:00pm.
Dates for the other meetings are now being finalised and announcements would soon be given.
Members of the public are strongly encouraged to seize the opportunity to contribute in what ends up being the final Master Plan for the National Sewerage Programme here in the BVI.
